Well, not unlike the realm of HFT itself, this article contains an element of mystery (queue the Scooby Doo sound byte).

Okay, so our good friend Twitter has lots of great stuff … or at least a lot of stuff. The Twitterverse does have many contributors providing value to my Twitter experience. Many are trading related, but many are not. I recently added Bloomberg Radio as a good place to find interesting podcasts on various market and economic related topics. So, when I saw this update, I was intrigued:

Today on #WBBR‘s ‘Taking Stock’ – Tyler Durden – Zero Hedge LLC, Yves Lamoureux – Blackmont Capital, John McDonnell – Patron 3PM ET9:29 AM Aug 20th from web

A cool thing about podcasts is I don’t have to fret about listening in live, as it will be available later for online listening or downloading. I confidently knew I would be able to hop over to the page of Taking Stock podcasts and hear what TD had to say. Easy peasy. If you visit that link, you’ll find it is not so easy this time. There are podcasts prior to the ZeroHedge interview and a podcast that aired the following day, just not the interview with Tyler Durden from the 20th. Oh well, maybe it ended up falling through, which would explain its absence from the podcast archives.

Plausible, yes, but untrue. In Hootsuite, I have a column that searches for “high frequency trading” related updates. As I scanned recent entries, I saw this update:

New post: The high frequency trading post I did not write http://bit.ly/hfNkYabout 9 hours ago from web

Hmm. Looks like others were finding the same thing I was about the interview: nothing. Late last night someone found and posted a link to the recording of the interview (which Edward Harrison added to the bottom of his article), though it is still missing from the Taking Stock collection of podcasts. Here is the link for the MP3:

August 20th 2009 ‘Taking Stock’ on Bloomberg Radio

For those interested only in the Zero Hedge portion of the interview, you’ll want just the first 15-minutes of the recording.

Another obvious question is, “Was it worth it?” and my answer is yes. And, really, if it wasn’t a worthwhile listen, I wouldn’t have bothered with this update. Okay. That’s probably not true. I probably still would have written something out of respect for the odd little goose-chase I went through to find the interview. If nothing else, at least the chase was entertaining.
