There are all kinds of ways to make your charts available to others. Nearly every trading forum allows members to post screenshots of their charts, either as images within posts, attachments to posts, uploaded to a repository, or some combination of the three methods. You can also upload charts to dedicated repositories, like Charthub or DaCharts. Those are all very acceptable ways to store and share charts, but what else ya got? Good question. And I’ll answer it with this week’s Free Trading Tool, and that is Chart.ly.
Chart.ly comes to us from the creators of Stocktwits.com, the “social, stock microblogging service”. Both services are designed to seamlessly integrate with Twitter. Chart.ly is super easy to setup, a breeze to use, and has some handy features you don’t often find at other chart upload sites.
Getting started couldn’t be easier:
- Find and click the big button in upper right that reads “Log In“
- Allow Chart.ly to access your Twitter account
Okay, you are officially using Chart.ly now. Let’s upload a chart:
- Find and click the big button in the upper right that reads “Upload a Chart“
- Find and click the big button near the center of the page that reads “Choose File” and Choose the image you want to upload
- Select the Chart Type, provide a symbol, give the chart some relevant tags, and add a Tweet.
- Check the box if you DON’T want to post the chart to your Twitter account.
- Find and click the big “Upload” button at the bottom of the screen
Congratulations! You have just uploaded your first chart to Chart.ly and possibly tweeted about it to your Twitter followers.
Along with the nifty functionality of the site, I like the design as well. You can catch up on the Stocktwits.com tweets, read the latest comments from chart posters, see the most popular symbols, see the most popular users, or search for charts related to a specific symbol. And you can do all this straight from the front page. Pretty slick.
So there ya have this week’s Free Trading Tool. Take some screenshots of your charts, pop over to Chart.ly, upload your charts, and Tweet about what you see in your trading world.
What’s your favorite chart upload site/service?
